“I know what it's like to sit on the other side of a gallery link.”
I'm not a professional photographer. I'm the person who spent three evenings trying to choose photos from one small session. I built Artilio so your clients never feel that frustration.
Two years ago my wife and I sat down to choose photos from our maternity session, on one of the popular gallery platforms.
The page loaded. The photos weren't there. We spent fifteen minutes clicking around. We had no idea what was going on. “What do you even click to see the photos?”
Once we could finally see them, the second problem began. With dozens of near-identical frames, we couldn't tell each other which photo we even meant. You had to click a photo just to see the camera-generated filename, which is useless when you want to quickly talk about shots with someone. Something like IMG/DSC_1923.
On top of that, we liked almost the entire gallery. That was many times more than the budget we'd set aside for photos. We had to let go of dozens of frames we genuinely loved.
So we invented our own system. Day one: a heart on everything, no limits, we marked anything we liked. Day two: from those, we kept only the best. Day three: the best of the best, until we fit the budget. Three evenings to choose photos from a session that took two hours to shoot.
If you're a photographer, your client goes through this every single time. And you get their selection later, and less sure.
