Customizing your gallery's look
Cover themes, photo grid settings, fonts, and watermarks: how to make every gallery feel like yours.
Artilio gives you a set of visual controls, grouped under Cover and Design, so every gallery you deliver looks polished and on-brand. Changes are reflected in a live preview you can check on desktop and mobile before the client sees anything.
Cover
The cover is the hero section the client sees first. You have several controls for it.
Cover theme
Choose the overall layout of the hero. Options include:
- Full-bleed: a single photo fills the screen with the gallery title overlaid on top.
- Centered: a clean layout with the title and description centered over the image.
- Card panel: a floating card sits over the cover photo and holds the title and description.
- Side panel: the text sits beside the image rather than on top of it.
- Multi-image collage: two to four cover photos arranged in a grid or masonry pattern.
Cover photo
Pick which photo from the gallery acts as the cover. After selecting it, set a focal point by clicking the part of the image that should stay in frame when the photo is cropped for different screen sizes. Multi-image themes let you choose several cover photos.
Overlay
Add an overlay on top of the cover photo to keep the title readable. You can choose from a gradient, a solid colour, or a blur effect, or turn the overlay off entirely. Both the colour and the opacity are adjustable.
Title
Show or hide the gallery title on the cover. When visible, you can choose the font from the curated set, set the size (small to extra large), and pick the colour.
Description and event date
The cover can also show a subtitle below the title. You can use the gallery's event date automatically, write your own custom text, or hide this line entirely. Font, size, and colour are all adjustable. There is also a separate toggle to display the event date as a standalone element on the cover.
Gallery layout
These settings control how photos are arranged in the main photo grid.
- Columns: choose between 2 and 6 columns.
- Spacing: set the gap between photos from extra small to extra large.
- Corner radius: choose none, small, medium, or large rounded corners on each photo.
- Content width: control how wide the grid sits on the page.
- Staggered layout: toggle an offset arrangement for a more dynamic, editorial feel.
Fonts
Pick from a curated set of roughly 30 Google Fonts for the cover title and description. The selection spans serif, sans-serif, display, handwriting and script, and monospace styles, so you can match the gallery to your brand or to the tone of the shoot.
Watermarks
Watermark settings live in the gallery's Settings tab.
- Text watermark: turn it on and adjust the size to stamp your studio name or any text onto the displayed photos.
- Logo watermark: turn it on, adjust the size, choose the corner position, and set the padding. The logo itself is uploaded once in your studio settings and reused across all galleries.
Watermarks appear on the photos as clients view them in the gallery but are not burned into the original files you uploaded.
Live preview
While editing the cover and design settings, a live preview updates in real time. You can switch between desktop and mobile views to check how the gallery looks on each. No changes are pushed to clients until you save.
