Your first gallery in 5 minutes
From a blank dashboard to a shareable client gallery in five steps. No configuration required.
This guide walks you through creating, uploading to, and sharing your first Artilio gallery. The whole process takes about five minutes.
Step 1, Create a gallery
Open your dashboard and click New gallery. Give it a name your client will recognise, for example "Smith Wedding, June 2026". The name is visible to the client, so keep it clear.

Step 2, Add chapters
Chapters divide a gallery into named sections. Click Add chapter and type a name: "Ceremony", "Portraits", "Reception". You can reorder chapters by dragging them.
Chapters are visible to clients as navigation tabs. You can control which chapters each person can see, more on that in Per-chapter visibility.
Step 3, Upload photos
Click into a chapter and drag your photos onto the upload zone, or click Upload to browse. Artilio accepts JPG, PNG, TIFF, and HEIC. Photos are delivered from EU CDN so clients get fast load times regardless of where they are.

Step 4, Share with your client
Go to the Share tab of the gallery. Choose how to give access:
- Enter your client's email address to send them a private link tied to that email. This is the recommended option for named clients.
- Or click "Create secret link" to generate a link anyone with the URL can open. Useful for group galleries or teaser previews.

Step 5, Done
Your client receives an email with their access link. They open the gallery, browse photos, leave favourites and ratings, and can download the files you allow.
Tip: you can track which photos the client has marked as favourites from the gallery dashboard. That list is your editing priority queue.
What is next
- Set up your custom domain on the Pro plan.
- Configure per-chapter visibility so the couple sees everything and guests see less.
- Enable print ordering so clients can buy directly from their gallery.
